Snake plant
Native to India, Indonesia and southern and tropical Africa, these
60 species of popular and resilient evergreen perennials are grown
for their stiff, fleshy, patterned 12Ð24 in (30Ð60 cm) tall leaves.
Stems of greenish white, slightly fragrant flowers appear in late
spring in warm conditions. In Africa the fibers are used to make
hemp.

Cultivation: Species of Sensevieria will tolerate sun or shad e and
most soil types; over-watering may cause rotting at the leaf bases
and at the roots.
Propagate from leaf cuttings or by division in spring or summer.
