This is a medium to large terrestrial species from India to Tonga
and most of the areas between and north to the Philippines.
It grows in lowland areas in seepages and other moist places.
The pseudobulbs are ovoid to 2 in (5 cm) in diameter with pleated
leaves 18-36 in (45-90 cm) long and 1-2 1/2 in (2.5-6 cm) wide.
The inflorescence is about 18Ð36 in (45-90 cm) tall with 3 to
numerous flowers, variable in size up to 1 1/2 in (35 mm) across.
Flowering can be throughout the year.
Cultivation: They require warm or intermediate conditions depending
on the species, and a well-drained mixture such as would be used for
Cymbidium species.
They thrive on copious watering and most species need strong light
to flower. |
