Aechmea chantinii is a bromeliad typical of Amazon Rainforest vegetation in Brazil. Commonly known as Amazonian Zebra Plant, it is often used as an ornamental plant. The following subspecies are recognized : Aechmea chantinii var. chantinii (Carrière) Baker, 1889 Aechmea chantinii var. fuchsii H.Luther (1987 publ. 1988).
Olive green leaves banded with silver. The flower spike has large drooping bracts of red, with a branched cluster of red and yellow flowers at the top. Absolutely stupendous.
