This evergreen, woody-stemmed climber comes from tropical
mountains
in the south of India
It reaches 20 ft (6 m) and has narrow green leaves. The pendent
flower spikes are a cheerful combination of brownish red and yellow,
and appear from spring to fall (autumn).
Cultivation: They will grow in any reasonably rich soil with
adequate drainage. Full sun is preferred, except during the summer
months, when part-shade and liberal water should be provided.
Support the stems and prune densely packed foliage during early
spring. Propagate from seed in spring and cuttings in summer. |
