This colorful tree can sometimes reach a height of 30 ft (9 m) but
is more commonly seen as a spreading shrub of about 10 ft (3 m) or
slightly less.
The pink and white flowers are borne throughout the year,
overlapping with the clusters of bristly red fruit that persist on
the branches long after they have released their seeds.
Cultivation: Propagation is best from cuttings, as seed-grown plants
take longer to flower. The color is used for dying and food
coloring(yellow).Indiens in Brazil use the leaves as medicine. |
