This spectacular, fast-growing tree grows to about 80 ft (24 m)
tall.
The leaves are bronze when young, maturing to deep glossy green.
The fruit are 8 in (20 cm) long.
It is widely planted as a street tree and is ornamental all over the
tropics. Its large, bell-shaped, orange or scarlet flowers are
produced in dense, terminal clusters. The large pinnate leaves are
deep green. The fruit are oblong capsules that split open when ripe
to release the seeds. The common name fountain tree refers to the
way the buds squirt moisture when they are squeezed.

Cultivation: This tree prefers rich, well-drained soil, shelter from
wind and a sunny position.
