From tropical Asia, this tree forms massive aerial roots
and high
buttresses with age. , its rosy new leaves contrasting with the deep
green mature leaves.
Its root system is aggressive.
Cultivars include Decora with bronze new leaves, and Doescheri with
variegated gray-green and creamy white leaves with light pink
midribs.
Cultivation: Figs grow to great heights in gardens and most species
have vigorous, invasive root systems.
Many make excellent container and house plants when young.
Figs prefer full sun to part-shade and humus-rich, moist but
well-drained soil .
Water potted specimens sparingly.
